A stay at Tregondale Farm, in the heart of Cornwall, gives our visitors many opportunities to get closer to nature on a real working Cornish farm.
Mervyn and Stephanie Rowe have been farming at Tregondale for over 30 years and run the farm with their son, Richard, who with his family, lives in a cottage on the farm. Richard started work on the farm in 1989 when he left school. Their daughter Amanda and her husband David live nearby, making this very much a family run concern.
Mervyn and Richard run the farm, whilst Stephanie manages the farm holidays, giving visitors from all over the country and further a field an excellent chance to see nature first hand on a real working Cornish farm.
"We're very aware of how lucky we are to live in such a lovely place, and we all get a lot of pleasure out of helping other people to enjoy it", says Stephanie. "It must work, because a large number of them keep coming back year after year!"
Tregondale is a traditional working farm, situated in attractive surroundings of an ancient valley, close to the Cornish town of Liskeard. The Farm House stands on the site of an old manor, dating back to the Doomsday book. The walled garden is an indication of a time long ago, and the giant beech tree is a major feature.
All over the farm are special viewing points, which are very popular at lambing and calving times!
We have a herd of Pedigree South Devon cattle, and the calving, which happens mainly in the spring, produces prime beef for the premium market.
Also to be found on the farm are a flock of purebred Longwool ewes, and Longwool cross Suffolks, which are put to our Suffolk ram for lambing in late January/ early February.
Our fully modernised home retains its charm & character, comfortably furnished throughout with co-ordinated decor and fittings. Our Farmhouse accommodation provides three luxurious en-suite bedrooms with bed & breakfast facilities and optional evening meals, whilst our self-catering cottage, which is ideal for 4 people, offers all the comforts of home.
